Basics of Bible Literacy

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
Psalms 119:105

This ongoing course is designed to provide a brief overview of the Bible, and to assist the serious Bible student to go beyond just reading--to remembering and understanding. It is provided in a format that you can print out, including a cover, to keep in a binder. New lessons will be added regularly.

The links on this page are for downloading ".pdf" ("portable document format") files of each of the lessons of the Basics of Bible Literacy course. PDF files take material created with any word processing program and make it easy for other computers to read even if they do not have the same word processing program. The original files are translated to a form that can be read by any computer that has a PDF reader such as the free Adobe Acrobat Reader program or the free Foxit Reader installed. Files opened by either of these readers can be easily printed out. Many websites use this format for similar materials, and if you have  one of these readers installed you will be able to access the same type of file on any website. The Acrobat Reader is available on the Internet for free download just by going to the following link:

The Foxit Reader is also available for free download by going to the following link. Both of these readers have excellent satisfaction ratings from users. Either will work equally well to read PDF files.

Once you have the Adobe or Foxit program installed, whenever you click on a link in your Web browser's window that is a PDF file, the browser will automatically open the reader and display the contents of the file on your screen. You may just read it on the screen, or print it out for convenient use at a later time. Some of the lessons do include blank areas in  which to enter your own responses to questions, and having a print-out makes it easier to make the most efficient use of these lessons. Be sure to start with the Cover and the "How to Use These Lessons" files.
